OUR DIFFERENCES FROM OTHER SPANISH LANGUAGE SCHOOLS You support us by paying us directly : Some Spanish schools in Xela lie to students that their tuitions are being spent on supporting social projects, etc while in the reality, the money never leaves the schools' pocket. By paying your teacher, host family and volunteer organization directly, you help us combat the corruption (and save your tuition) 1-on-1 class + homestay =: We will immerse you into the Guatemalan culture while letting you save more than Spanish language schools from anywhere in the world (e.g. over $1000/week in Spain) Complete immersion: We are a small group of Guatemalan Spanish teachers and host families. In fact, we don't even have a regular school building with classrooms. Translation: You will not be surrounded by a group of English speakers as in case of large Spanish schools (and more savings for you!). You motivate us: The best thing about what we do is that we could get to know every student, really well . Every student brings us something unique about him and leaves us with an unforgettable memory about her. Likewise, every one of us could offer you a very unique learning experience. It's up to you: You can choose your tutor and host family . Our Spanish, K'iche, Mam, weaving classes have 1-on-1 format for 4.5 hours a day, Mon-Fri. You are more likely to find a tutor that matches your learning style and interests. You will know better what your host family's expectations are and in exchange, your needs will be met better by your host family. ¿Alo?: Thanks to the ever changing technology, you can interact with us even before your arrival . Thus, the risk of changing your tutor later and interrupting your study will be minimized. > We are serious about your satisfaction: If you are not satisfied with us, we will refund all your payments.

ADVANTAGES FOR THE SPANISH, K'ICHE, MAM, WEAVING TEACHERS

Your ability to teach Spanish, K'iche, Mam, weaving is what counts, not the years of service in a same Spanish language school: Often those teachers with more time are the ones to have students assigned to them regardless of their teaching ability. Appropriate compensation for your teaching assignment: Spanish language schools in Quetzaltenango often take 50-55% cut from a student's total payment, leaving only 20-25% for the teachers. Also, Spanish language schools don't allow the teachers to set their own price. Professional development opportunity in teaching Spanish, K'iche, Mam, weaving, tourism and cultural activities: Not all Spanish language schools in Quetzaltenango are offering enough training to the teachers. It's free to post your information in ConeXion Xela. If you would like to teach Spanish, K'iche, Mam, weaving, register here. ADVANTAGES FOR THE HOST FAMILIES FROM QUETZALTENANGO

>Appropriate compensation for the service provided: Spanish language schools in Quetzaltenango usually take 50-55% cut from a student's total payment, leaving only 20-25% for the host family. The Spanish language schools don't allow the host families to set their own price. Also, when students stay with the family for only 4 days, the Spanish schools charge them for entire week, but the host families are getting paid only for that 4 days. Opportunity to serve needs of the students better: Often Spanish language schools in Quetzaltenango don't recognize the amount of effort your family puts in to accommodate your student's needs. Preferences of the host families and the students are matched better: Sometimes lack of communication between a Spanish language school and the host family has brought a vegetarian student to a host family that hardly ever eats vegetable. It'sfree to post your family's information in ConeXion Xela. If your family would like to host a student, register here.

We studied the song called "La Camisa Negra." It's very popular in all Latin America and other parts of the world. From the song, we extracted new nouns, adjectives and verbs. But on top of that, it was fun! We also played Scrabble and other table games. In 6 week of class, Marti's Spanish went up to almost intermediate level from the scratch. Now, she could enjoy the conversation with people of Quetzaltenango. Read the student's comment!
