  • Name: Any
  • Weekly tuition: Q400 Mon-Fri; Q100/day if you want to take the lesson for less than 5 days; Q25/hour if you want hourly lessons; Q200/day for Sat & Sun (Convert to your currency )
  • Schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m.
  • Education: Finished the 12 semester in Business Administration at Rafael Landivar University and writing her thesis; holds the diploma of the teacher of Spanish as a second language endorsed by Ministry of Education of Guatemala, Guatemalan Institution of Tourism (INGUAT) and the University of San Carlos of Guatemala
  • Professional aspiration: Graduate with BA in Business Administration in this year. Study a master's program in human resources. Study BA in Theology. Continue with professional developments in diverse fields.
  • Favorite place to have a class: A place like a café , in a comfortable place where we can concentrate well
  • Message to a student: Spanish is a beautiful language that lets you communicate in Central America, South America and with hispanic people living in other countries. Spanish is a very valuable language and I recommend you to learn it so that you can communicate with all the hispanic people without much difficulty. And we are very nice and sincere!

 

Why do you like teaching Spanish?
Because it is a systematic presentation to transmit knowledge in Spanish and it is very interesting to see there are people who recognize the value of Spanish and want to learn the language that I grew up with.

What are the challenges of being a Spanish teacher?
Have the calling in teaching - charisma
Be dynamic
Have knowledge of history, literature and current issues of local region (city, department, country, etc.)
Be specialized to give quality teaching

How do you make your class interesting?
My lesson plan will be well integrted with grammar, history, socioeconomic reality of our country, recreational activities, cultural activities, etc.
Have audiovisual materials available (music, movies, etc.)
Utilize experiencial teaching method (walks, visits to museums and various places related to topic of a lesson)
Utilize practical or illustrative teaching methods (flash cards, books, magazines, etc)
Use table games related to topic of a lesson

What kind of student would be your favorite one especially in case of 1-on-1 lesson?
The student should have interests and yearning to learn Spanish and not just taking Spanish for college credits, etc.
The student should be communicative, sincere and resourceful to make best use of time in teaching and learning.
The student should be fully aware that the he/she is in different country with different culture and education system so that his/her action would be acceptable one within Guatemalan society.

What do you do to grow as a professional and person?
Study
self-development
Be in peace with myself and my neighbors

What would you do if you have only one more week of life?
Have more intense relationship with God and would ask him to forgive me for not always doing what is correct.
I would speak about all the goodness received from God in my life.
I would ask for forgiveness from the people around me and I would show them my appreciation to them.
I would distribute my belongings to the people I appreciate (my family) and the rest to those in need.

What were you doing 15 years ago?
I was a first-grader.
Playing with my sisters and friends

What will you be doing in 15 years down the road?
I would be taking care of my home. (husband, kids)
I would be managing my own company.
I would continue teaching the correct writing, pronunciation and application of Spanish to foreigners as much as to those in rural areas of my country (Guatemala).

Who is/was the most influential person in your life?
My parents. They have positively influenced my life as they've been giving me great advices in every important decisions in my life, and through experience of time that they've gone through, they've been giving me great lessons.

What is the Guatemala's biggest social issue?
Illiteracy – education

What do you propose to solve the Guatemala's problems?
Each one of us should be an agent of change or transformation and be at the communities that are in most need of education to make a better society.
