Why do you like teaching Spanish?
I like teaching Spanish because by teaching the language, I can teach the culture of my country which is multicultural, multilingual and multiethnic. At the same time, I can learn about diverse culture of the world from my students.
What are the challenges of being a Spanish and k'iche teacher?
The challenge of being a good Spanish teacher is to satisfy students' wide range of objectives and have students learn Spanish and enjoy their time in Guatemala.
How was your favorite student?
I have had many students, young and old, serious ones, those who smile a lot, kind, shy, easy-going, students and professionals... all of them came to Quetzaltenango to learn Spanish.
What do you do to grow as a professional and person?
I like a lot study, learn new things, practical and interesting things. Also I like to teach what I learned and help out when I can to make friends.
What is the best of Xela?
The best of Xela is it people, customs and traditions accompanied with the beauty of its landscape and the famous moon of Xelajú.
What would you do if you have only one more week of life?
I would like intensely, give lots of love and I won't be angry. Also I would enjoy the beautiful things like the nature, my family and my friends.
What were you doing 15 years ago?
15 years ago I was playing with my siblings and I was in an elementary school. I was writing a novel. I was just a little girl.
What will you be doing in 15 years down the road?
Within 15 years, I'd like to be working in an organization to help develop my community and also I will be enjoying my time with my famioly and the work that I have today.
Who is/was the most influential person in your life?
The most influential person in my life is my son. He is full of joy, and has been giving colors to my day with his warmth and innocence since 3 years ago.
What is the Guatemala's biggest social issue?
The biggest social problem of Guatemala is poverty and it's the root of crimes. But the cause of this problem is the Guatemalan government that has not been able to respond to the need of society.
What do you propose to solve the Guatemala's problems?
Have everyone work toward development of our community. Fight against corruption in the government and support the decentralization of health, education, housing, justice departments, etc.
