In Guatemala, the villages have public market place that are held once a week where people from around the villages get together to buy and sell, as well as attend religious activities. The indigenous market in San Francisco El Alto is one of the largest in Guatemala and held three days a week. The market place starts at 3'o'clock in the morning which is uncommon in other market places. It is recommended that you visit the market in San Francisco on Friday.
